Room 11 Families!
Another wonderful week in Room 11! We had so much fun learning and talking about all we love. We will continue this week working on using kind words and actions. I always tell the kids, "Above all else, be kind."
This week in Reading we will be learning about farms and where food comes from. Students will read a some stories and hear read alouds about the ways we get food, how it's delivered to us, and also hear fun fictional stories about farm aninals. We also have some great reading strategies and skills we will be working on. Find more about what your child will learn in Reading Class HERE.
We started unit 5 in math, expanding our knowledge of ones, tens, teen numbers, decade numbers, adding and subtracting double digit numbers. Did you you know that our fast fact timed test are the highest in first grade? We have 88% of students already at the end of year benchmark! We started on level A and are working hard to pass level F. Any student who gets to level Z gets to have their picture put on the top of the minion city! ( see your local first grader for details)
Home Visits are back! We will offer just a few more home visits for the year. If you have not yet had one, please consider a time. It is a great way for all of us to connect in a super positive way outside of school. HOME VISITS.
Writing and science this week will be jammed with amazing projects on the Earth's layers, and its landforms. We also will read a great story called "My Mouth is a Volcano", that talks about blurting, label a volcano and set off a model volcano! (sssshhhh!)
